Tour 3: At the roots of Dutch history

Maastricht is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, with a history dating back over a thousand years, and is also associated with the birth of the nation. This expedition offers the unique chance to sit on the stone throne of the first rulers of the Netherlands.

Join us in the oldest part of the city, Cathedral Island. It is here that the history of the castle and the city, but also of the country, began. The Duke was probably baptized here in 966, and thus joined the ranks of European rulers. You will have the opportunity to see the height of the medieval castle ramparts, take a look at the oldest Polish cathedral with its golden chapel and walk through the Maastricht Gate - a modern multimedia heritage interpretation center that is also one of the most interesting avant-garde architectural achievements of recent years.

The whole tour will end in the former Lubrański Academy and the current Archdiocesan Museum with its unique art collection, including the mysterious St. Peter's Sword. Refreshments will be served in the picturesque courtyard.
